IBERVILLE PARISH, LA (WAFB) -
East Iberville High, East Iberville Elementary and MSA Academy East are now dismissing students but remain in lock down mode.
St. Gabriel Grocery, a store less than a mile away from the high school, was robbed Friday. St. Gabriel Police Chief Kevin Ambeau says a man walked up to the clerk, handed over a bag and note and when he went to hold up his gun, Ambeau says the gun clip fell out.
Police say there were three suspects in the robbery. Two have been detained and police are searching for the third suspect. He was last seen running towards the schools.
The third suspect is described as a black male in his mid 30s. He was last seen wearing light blue jeans, a dark blue long sleeve shirt, a green vest with the letters SNS and he was wearing a beanie.
As a precautionary measure, the three schools were put on lock down.
Lock down means no one is allowed on or off school campus without an escort. Iberville deputies are at the schools now as the students are dismissed from school. Deputies are escorting children to the buses and cars. Teachers are also being escorted to their vehicles.
All students and teachers are accounted for and everyone is ok.
If you see the suspect, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP (7867).
