ASSUMPTION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

The search for a missing Baton Rouge firefighter ends on day 22 after he was found in the Belle River Thursday.

Jacob Lewis, 28, was last seen on the Belle River in Assumption Parish on Jan. 30.

His wife said they were loading their boat back on the trailer after scouting areas to set crawfish traps when she noticed the boat adrift. She told authorities she then spotted her husband struggling in the water.

She said he was floating down the Intracoastal with his arms up and yelling for her to call 911.

According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office, a body was found near Settoon Dock Services around noon Thursday, which is about two miles from where Lewis was last seen.

The Sheriff's Office, along with Wildlife and Fisheries, are on the scene with the St. Martin Parish coroner. Officials tell WAFB 9News the clothing description matches what Lewis was wearing when he fell into the water.

Also, officials say Lewis' ID was found on him.

Boats from several agencies all assisted in the search. Crews dragged the river bottom and used sonar equipment and divers for weeks.

Lewis had been with the Baton Rouge Fire Department for nearly four years.
