GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

On Monday, a robbery suspect was arrested after he was found in a wooded area thanks to a police K-9 and police officers, according to the Gulfport Police Department.

Captain Craig Petersen said, 19-year-old Juan Kevin Simpson was arrested and charged with one count of robbery.

His charge stems from an incident that happened at an Orange Grove Shopping Center located at the 12000 block of Highway 49.

Simpson allegedly grabbed the victim's purse as she was leaving a business and trying to get into her vehicle.

He fled on foot with her purse into a wooded area nearby. Officers and the K-9 later found Simpson. He was transported to Harrison County Adult Detention Center Facility.

Simpson was originally out on bond for a residential burglary that occurred in September of 2012. He is currently being held with no bond pending a hearing.
