LSU's Cameron to receive three year contract

LSU's new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Cam Cameron will receive a three-year contract pending approval of LSU's Board of Supervisors.

The contract that will initially pay him $600,000 for the 2013 season. He will earn $1.3 million in his second year and $1.5 million in the third and final year of the contract.

Defensive coordinator John Chavis will made $900,000 in 2012, will make $1.1 million this season and $1.3 million in 2014.

Cameron started his college career at Michigan working under legendary head coach Bo Schembechler and Gary Moeller. Cameron and Miles served together at Michigan in the 1980's and became close friends.

Cameron has 29 years of coaching experience to his credit, 15 at the college level and 14 in the NFL. Six of his 29 years in coaching have come as a head coach.

Asked last week about his offensive philosophy, Cameron said, "It's the LSU Football style already. It's physical. It's tough. It is bringing in guys that are smart and know this game and understand that there are three phases to this game and it is not just offense. We are charged on offense with taking care of the football."

"Does that mean you play conservative? Absolutely not. You have to play smart aggressive football. It has to have a physical nature to it. That is the way we were raised. We are not apologizing for it."
