Free online tax filing program available in MS

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

State officials are urging eligible Mississippians to take advantage of a free online tax filing program sponsored by the state.

Free File is available for taxpayers who earned $57,000 or less in 2012. It allows residents to complete federal and state taxes electronically for free.

The program also helps the state save money by cutting down on processing paper returns.

The free tax prep services through Free File are also available at the WIN Job Centers throughout the state.

For more information on Free File, visit the Mississippi Department of Revenue website. More helpful free information on preparing taxes is available on the Computer & Communications Industry Association's tax prep help website.
