SPRINGFIELD, LA (WAFB) -

Sheriff's Deputies have arrested a suspect wanted on numerous charges, including robbery and possible car jacking after a search for the man this morning put Springfield schools on lock down.

Springfield Elementary and Springfield High School were placed on lock down Monday morning during the search because the suspect was seen walking in the area of the schools. The suspect was not seen on school grounds.

According to the Sheriff's Office, 19-year-old Jarred Tyquan Anderson Dotey was a passenger of a vehicle that didn't stop right away when an officer tried to pull them over early Sunday morning, around 2 a.m. When the driver of the vehicle finally stopped, Dotey got out of the vehicle and ran into the woods.

A search this morning included helicopters, deputies and dogs from the Department of Corrections.

Around 6:30 a.m., Dotey was reported to have knocked on the door of a residence near the school claiming to be looking for a ride. According to the Sheriff, the resident's wife came to the door and it spooked Dotey and he ran off.

Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office currently has warrants on Dotey for simple burglary, simple battery and resisting an officer. More charges against Dotey could be filed.

LPSO also says other agencies may have charges on this man.

According to the Sheriff's Office, dismissal at Springfield Schools went smoothly Monday afternoon.

Many parents went to the school and checked their children out of school Monday. School will be in session Tuesday on a semi-lock down.  The Sheriff said they will have a police presence at the school until Dotey is caught.

According to Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, Dotey was found near the school just before 5 p.m.

Springfield Police, Killian Police, Albany Police and Louisiana State Police assisted Livingston Parish Sheriff's Deputies in the search for Dotey.
