CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Fort Campbell got an audience of sons, daughters, spouses and parents Wednesday, as they gathered for a look into the day in the life of a soldier. Family members were invited out to post for February Aerial Gunnery Family Day and watched a training exercise in which an aircraft shot at an enemy target on the ground.
"The soldiers go away quite often, and we're not really sure what they do," said military wife Stephanie Pry. "It's nice just to get out, show your support to them and see what they do every day."
Pry's daughter, 2-year-old Emale, looked to the sky as an aircraft went flying behind the trees. Pry's husband is a first sergeant at Fort Campbell. She said it's important her kids grow up proud of the men and women of the armed forces.
"She understands that he wears a uniform," Pry explained of daughter, Emale. "She relates that to daddy."
"Soldiers are doing a very important thing right now," said Maj. Jonathan Tackaberry. "They're training in preparation of our future missions, and for the families to come out and observe that, it's really important so they understand. They all support their soldiers."
Pry added she's just glad she can have a glimpse into a day in the life of a soldier.
"I think it's different being in a military family," said Pry. "I think you just have such a pride in your country. We're all a part of this, so it's nice to share with everyone else."
