Season's First Tropical Depression Forms In Atlantic

The first Tropical Depression of the 2004 hurricane season formed Saturday in the Atlantic Ocean, just off the Eastern Seaboard.

As of 10 pm on July 31 TD #1 was located at 31.4 North and 78.9 West.

It is about 115 miles Southeast of Charleston, South Carolina.

The Depression has sustained winds of 30mph and is moving toward the North-Northwest at 8 mph.

The pressure has fallen to 1009mb indicating a little strengthening in the system.

The storm is still disorganized, but it is still posting tropical storm watches from Edisto Beach, SC to Cape Hatteras, NC.
