HATTIESBURG, MS (WLOX) -

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) announced students may return to the Hattiesburg campus at 4 p.m. Wednesday. According to USM's web page, classes will start back on Thursday.

Students are asked to use caution when traveling and moving around campus. They are also asked to stay away from areas affected by Sunday's tornado.

That tornado ripped through Hattiesburg leaving behind a trail of debris, damaged, homes, vehicles and buildings. Four of USM's buildings were damaged.

The university has created a student hotline that students and parents can call for any kind of assistance following Sunday's tornado on the Hattiesburg campus.

The hotline number is 601-266-5000.

Doug Walker is in Hattiesburg, where USM students are cleaning up the debris on campus. He'll have more details on their efforts later today on WLOX News and WLOX.com.
