It was raining beads at St. Paul Carnival parade in Pass Christian

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS (WLOX) -

Folks in Pass Christian at the St. Paul Carnival Association parade were prepared for a storm on Sunday and beads raining on them.

Hands were raised and music echoed through the streets for the 83rd Annual St. Paul Carnival parade. Despite the gloomy air, color was everywhere.

"Happy Mardi Gras," said the crowd.

Mardi Gras first timers, from Ohio felt the contagious spirit.

"I love it. It's fun," said Ohio natives.

They had one goal on their vacation on the Coast.

"Have fun, party," said Ohio natives.

The line of floats was lead by the royal court.

Mayor Chipper McDermott was King Christian.

Queen Christiana was Jane Dennis.

The theme of the parade was "The Year of the Snake," in honor of the Asian New Year.

A snake slithered on a float and added flavor to the day. For many parade goers, the theme seemed to be beads, beads, and more beads.

The day was very special for a little birthday boy who held a sign that read, "It's my 5th birthday."

Traffic was bad, the weather was dreary, but no one seemed to care, because the day was all about family fun and of course beads.
