Marijuana grow house burns to the ground

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

A house, where marijuana growing equipment was recently found, is in ruins after an early morning fire. Central Jackson County Fire Department Chief Michael Belton said his crews responded to a fire around 1am Saturday at 1012 Dorothy Street in Ocean Springs.

This comes two weeks ago the Harrison County Sheriff's Department and the DEA made several arrests after discovering four elaborate marijuana grow houses across South Mississippi, including this one on Dorothy Street.

Chief Belton told WLOX the house was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived on the scene.

Gulf Park Estates Fire Department assisted Central Jackson County Fire Department with trucks and manpower. It took 20 firefighters three hours to extinguish the fire.
