CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Two men are accused of trying to steal an all-terrain vehicle early Friday morning from a Clarksville property.
Police said Rusty Roby, 32, and Daniel Huff, 39, broke into a shed at a vacant home on Vaughn Lane.
A woman who owns the property contacted police and said she had noticed items missing from the property the last time she had been there. This prompted police to stake out the area.
"Investigator Billy Wall and I went to check out the property and noticed that a padlock placed on the door of a large shed had been cut," Investigator Steve Heise said. "We decided we were going to watch the property that night in an attempt to catch the perpetrator in the act."
Around 1 a.m., police who were watching the area noticed a maroon truck leaving the area with an ATV that belonged to the owner.
Deputies surrounded the vehicle and apprehended the men.
Roby is charged with burglary. Huff is charged with burglary and criminal trespass.
