Reported economic uncertainty has not hindered the explosive growth of interior design firm, Moore Design Group, who is enjoying a successful 2013 launch. The award-winning team will partner with Dallas-based real estate company Alamo Manhattan Inc. in the development of two urban apartment communities in the uptown and downtown area.
Monaco, located at 3003 Carlisle Street, is a six-story apartment building that includes two interior courtyards and a pedestrian bridge connecting the community to the popular Katy Trail. The property, which features 192 residential units above a three-floor parking garage, is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2013.
MDG’s interior design team will blend Monaco’s Mediterranean-themed architecture with demographic elements that appeal to potential residents with an active lifestyle who value wellness, fitness and the outdoors. The overall atmosphere of the community appeals to young professionals who work hard, play hard and value exclusivity.
Stephanie Moore, MDG’s founding principal, has directed the design with neutral hues, earthy materials and a complementary furnishing scheme, creating spaces that have ease of function with open and flowing elements. An exquisite view from the amenity space to the pool deck was created, providing an indoor-outdoor hideaway from the metropolitan environment.
With a nod to the client’s taste and the interests of the potential resident, MDG streamlined the atmosphere to be modern, yet warm and inviting, offering function and fashion with exceptional comfort in the amenity areas.
“Light and shadow are major players in our architectural plans, echoing the flavorful Mediterranean slant,” Moore said. “We chose to anchor enlivened elements within the amenity space fusing the natural and man-made environments.
“We offer the right kind of vigor and energy through the task of design to keep within the neighborhood aesthetics,” Moore added. It is this ability to understand the developer’s vision and make it relevant to the market of each property location that has earned MDG national recognition with esteemed Pillars of Industry and ASID Dallas Design Ovation awards.
Cityscape, located just one block from the American Airlines Center, will feature six stories with 263 apartments located above two levels of parking and 3,500 square feet of retail space. The luxury apartments will boast condo-quality finishes. The urban community will include an outdoor amenity deck, complete with an infinity edge pool, fire pit and private patios overlooking Victory Park. The first apartments will be available for rental in early 2014.
Moore and her team created continuity in the design, which unites the pool deck outside with the amenity area and almost allows the residents to “live outdoors” and enjoy the downtown skyline. The design of Cityscape gives nod to the location in the trendy neighborhood of hip restaurants, cocktail bars, art galleries and sports venues and assumes much entertaining. The plan works for large events as well as small gatherings, while a VIP lounge for residents offers exclusivity to the space.
“We had to bring a degree of softness and warmth to the spaces while maintaining the integrity of the space and volume,” Moore said. “We have stayed within a limited color palette of grays, whites and chocolates and of course that one inspiring contrast color throughout the space is a lovely Tangerine and a hint of Azure to complement.”
“We avoid anything overly decorative; we mix modern furniture with contemporary accents while being sympathetic to the overall ethos of restraint and refinement,” Moore continued.
For the Cityscape property, MDG will partner not only with Alamo-Manhattan Inc., which focuses on urban infill apartment development but also with Hunt Companies, Inc., a leading national real estate company.
Moore has successfully developed a symbiotic relationship with developers who graciously accept and appreciate the vision while MDG is design savvy with a true understanding for scale, rightness of space and proportion.
