MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -
Moss Point Police Chief Keith Davis tells WLOX News an escaped Pike County inmate was captured Monday night in his city.
According to Davis, authorities nabbed Richard Glen Maples during a traffic stop on Saracennia Road. The arrest was a coordinated effort between Mississippi Department of Corrections, Moss Point Police, Jackson County Sheriff's Department, and Ocean Springs Police.
Chief Davis said further details of the capture will be available Tuesday morning.
The 22-year-old Maples reportedly left from the Pike County Community Work Center in McComb at approximately 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. He was last seen wearing MDOC state issued green and white striped pants and white shirt with "MDOC convict" printed on the back.
Maples is serving a seven-year sentence for convictions of burglary, vehicle burglary, identity theft and credit card fraud from Jones County.
