Captured: Man on the run spotted next to his own wanted poster

MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

A convicted murderer on the run for years has been captured in Moss Point.

Jesse Cooley, 54, was arrested Tuesday after a tip to police that Cooley was in town once again. Cooley was convicted of murder back in 1981 and sentenced to serve his time in a mental institution. At some point, he escaped and basically disappeared.

Authorities once thought Cooley was out west. But a few days ago, word came he was reportedly seen in Moss Point. Wanted posters went up around town, including one in the post office on Bowen Street.

Tuesday morning, someone inside that very post office saw the poster, then saw Cooley and called 911. Moss Point Police arrived and placed Cooley under arrest.
