Hundreds of people darted in and out of stores at the Prime Outlets Malls looking for the bargains many parents say are helping them to start the school year off right.
"I've always gotten caught at the end of the year last minute shopping. You have things that have been picked over and I just didn't want to do that this year, so I'm trying to get a little head start," said mom Sheree Williams.
And getting a head start means getting the items that are topping many lists this year, and that's shoes.
"I've got two children and school's about to start so we stopped in on our trip back from Florida specifically to buy shoes," said mom Monisa James.
Uniform shoes have been in high demand since the fourth of July weekend, and so have shorts and T-shirts
"We've been staying real busy. We've got some real good sales going on. A lot of people are taking advantage of the good sales that we have going on," said Osh Kosh B'Gosh store manager Jennifer Nichols.
Which means the cash registers are singing the tunes of big profits.
"Business right now is awesome actually. It's been a great week for us," said Nike operations manager Bob DiGiacomo.
And hopefully all of these items will help to make a successful year for students, especially new students like 4-year-old Emma Kaye James, who is starting kindergarten pretty soon.
She says the best thing about going into kindergarten..
"My friends are going there. A lot of my friends that I know," said James.
