MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

The Jackson County branch of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) held their annual prayer breakfast in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day Monday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Moss Point.

The keynote speaker was Reverend Raysell Booth of Union Baptist Church. He talked about the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and the significance of President Barack Obama's inauguration on the same day.

"We appreciate his legacy, being that of peace. Especially during this time. Political discourse and instability in state houses and the Capitol is more prevalent. We need more peace," Minister Reginald Wells said.

Several local ministers and pastors also spoke and prayed at the event. About 50 people attended the prayer breakfast.
