BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
A Biloxi police chase ended after the suspect crashed into a Dollar General in Gulfport on Wednesday.
According to Biloxi police, 54-year-old Dana Andrew Porter is the man, who is accused of shoplifting at a Biloxi Dollar General. Police were able to receive a description of Porter and his vehicle. They attempted to stop him after he was spotted at the intersection of Beauvoir and Beach Boulevard.
Instead of stopping, Porter reportedly sped up. Leading police on a chase west on Beach Boulevard. Police said he drove recklessly and cut through the Edgewater Mall parking lot. Then headed north on Eisenhower Road.
After running several red lights, Porter allegedly crashed into the Dollar General located at the 2000 block of East Pass Road in Gulfport.
Police say he fled on foot. Authorities were able to identify Porter and arrest him with the assistance of Gulfport police. Porter is charged with felony eluding and shoplifting.
His felony eluding bond was set by Justice Court Judge Fountain at $100,000.00. His shoplifting bond was set by Municipal Court Judge Eugene Henry at $900.00. He was booked in at the Biloxi Police Department and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
