GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -
Gulfport fire officials believe arson is to blame for an overnight house fire.
WLOX News received word from officials early Wednesday about the blaze. Gulfport Fire Battalion Chief Chris Henderson tells us a home at the corner of Hudson and Lavender Streets caught fire just before midnight Tuesday. It took 15 firefighters about 30 minutes to control the blaze, and the home sustained significant damage. No one was injured.
Henderson believes the fire was the result of arson. There are no suspects at this time. Officials have been unable to reach the homeowners.
The 2-story home was vacant; in fact, neighbors say it's been empty since last July. Henderson told us the home has been stripped of all its appliances.
