Kids train for Special Olympics at the Donal Snyder Center

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The Young Athletes training camp kicked off Saturday morning.

Children with disabilities, ages 2 to 7, gathered in the Donal Snyder Center gymnasium for the sports program.

This innovative sports play event provides young children with intellectual disabilities a fun way to be active.

It helps them prepare for the local Special Olympic events that kids can participate in at age 8.

Linda Stewart spear headed this 8-week program that will be every Saturday through March from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

It's a free event and any kid with a disability is welcome to attend.

Volunteers are needed as trainers.
