HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) -

According to Sergeant Shirley Sanders of the Rusk County Sheriff's Department, 42-year-old James Brent Malone has been charged with possession of child pornography.

The sheriff's department say they were contacted by the Longview Police Department and informed that Longview officers needed assistance detaining a suspect.

"Yesterday evening we received a call from cyber crimes and Longview Police Department, that they were investigating and needed our assistance," Rusk County Sheriff, Jeff Price, said.

According to Kristie Bryan at the Longview Police Department, Longview Cyber Crimes was instrumental in discovering the images after they found Malone on Internet relay chat.

When officers went to Malone's house, they found multiple printed images of child pornography.

"We went to the house and talked with Mr. Malone. During that time, they received a consent to search. During that search they found some child pornography materials," Sheriff Price said.

They are examining his computer to see if there is more child pornography on it.

Henderson ISD officials said Malone was employed as an English Language Arts teacher at Henderson High School, but has been placed on administrative leave for the foreseeable future.

Henderson ISD officials said, "The safety of our children is our utmost priority, and HISD will do everything we can to protect the well being of Henderson students."

School officials said Malone was arraigned and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

Sergeant Sanders said Malone is behind bars in the Rusk County Jail on a bond of $10,000.
