Vicksburg police have arrested a man they believe stalked a woman and stole her purse from her walker after she left a Vicksburg casino last weekend.
Police say they responded to Roca Restaurant Saturday night where a 76-year-old woman's purse, containing $2,000, had been stolen while she was in the restroom.
Salvatore John Digennaro, 23, of Clinton, became a suspect after investigators reviewed surveillance video and interviewed witnesses. Digennaro has been charged with grand larceny.
Investigators believe Digennaro stalked the victim and her husband while they were gaming at Ameristar Casino. Surveillance even apparently shows Digennaro approaching the victim and engaging in a conversation at the casino. Investigators believe Digennaro then followed the victim from the casino to the restaurant where he stole her purse.
The Clinton Police Department helped lead Vicksburg police to a drug treatment facility in Copiah County where they believe Digennaro admitted himself Monday.
The Copiah County Sheriff's Office executed an arrest warrant, and Digennaro was transported to Vicksburg for processing. He will appear in Vicksburg Municipal Court Monday.
