Officer dragged by driver during drug bust

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A Baton Rouge Police officer was dragged by a driver Tuesday morning.

The incident began when the officer noticed a car behind a bank on O'Neal Lane.  The officer tried several times to question the driver, who pulled away each time.

When he approached the driver again, the officer says he spotted drugs.

"The officer reached into the vehicle to try to subdue the suspect and in the process of it, he was dragged behind the car," said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs with Baton Rouge Police.

The officer is expected to recover.

The suspect got away and is still on the run.
