An upper air disturbance moving across northwestern Mexico this morning will move northeast across West Texas causing sleet and snow to develop across later today. This area of precipitation will move east towards East Texas tonight. At the same time the upper air disturbance will be absorbed by a stronger system causing the precipitation to weaken as it moves towards East Texas. It does appear there will be enough moisture for light precipitation to fall and based on the temperatures across East Texas a mix of rain sleet and snow is possible.
The amount of moisture will be limited so only very light precipitation is expected. With surface temperatures at or just above freezing, accumulations of sleet and snow appear very unlikely at this time and no travel problems will occur. By noon on Friday any precipitation that is left across East Texas will be in the form of rain as warmer temperatures aloft move into the area. Stay with KLTV and KLTV.com for the latest.
