Two fugitive brothers wanted out of Tennessee were spotted Wednesday night in the woods near Richard Ozona Road and Highway 11 in Pearl River County. Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff's Department said deputies are on foot with K-9 units patrolling the area. A helicopter is also en route to aid in the search. More >>

The New Year's holiday kept the Mississippi Highway Patrol busy with nearly 150 collisions, five of those being alcohol related. Troopers also made 135 DUI arrests.
According to stats released by Public Affairs Director Warren Strain, there were 149 total collisions investigated throughout the state between Dec. 28 and midnight Dec. 31. Twelve of those crashes occurred in the Jackson area, and 13 of the total 135 DUI arrests were made in Jackson and surrounding areas.
Strain states Troop C responded to one fatal collision over the New Year's weekend. Troopers across the state responded to a total of five alcohol related collisions. Two fatalities were noted across the state, but information on whether those crashed were alcohol related was not immediately available.
Also noted was 113 tickets given for not wearing a seat belt, and 51 tickets distributed for improper child restraint across Mississippi roads.
