Kennel club makes donation to Denham Springs Animal Shelter

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) -

The Denham Springs Animal Shelter received a much-welcomed display of generosity Thursday.

The Baton Rouge Kennel Club wrote a check for $5,000 to the animal shelter.

This is the third donation the kennel club has made to area officials.  Earlier this year, they bought four Kevlar vests for K9 officers in Baker and Zachary.

"We think it's immensely important," said Kennel Club Secretary Carl Grotton. "The shelter, from what I understand, is almost at capacity now. Anything we can do to ease their financial burdens, we're more than willing to do."

The money donated will go towards vet bills, food and new construction to allow for more animals in the shelter.
