Day after Christmas draws shoppers

Posted: Updated:
HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A day after finding a gift card under the Christmas tree, many people found their way to area stores to pick up the things they wished they'd received from Santa.

Patrick Bosarge got a Batman toy from Walmart in Biloxi.

"I got the card from Santa and I used it," said Bosarge.

Jonna Marsland was happy to head to Crossroads Mall in Gulfport to pick out some items.

"I got a bunch of gift cards, so it's time to use them," said Marsland. "I got a few things that I wanted that I didn't get on the day. So I'm finding them on sale now, which is better."

For some people, the trip to the store wasn't to shop, but to return gifts that didn't quite work out as planned.

"Wasn't the right thing," said Danielle Barton as she headed into the store for a return. "But we've had a good Christmas though. This is the only thing I've had to return, so I'm happy about that."

Morgan Miller went with her mother to return a CD she got for Christmas.

"I got a Hunter Hayes CD, but I'm taking it back because I got a new iPad and I'm going to download one of the songs that I know," Miller said. "But I am going shopping for other stuff."

With a combination of gift cards and great discounts, some people say December 26th is one of their favorite shopping days of the year.

"There's some good deals in there; 50 percent off everything Christmas," Morgan Miller said.

Some customers told us they especially like to buy Christmas ornaments, wrapping paper and such after Christmas because everything is much cheaper.
