FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Tuesday's storms destroyed or heavily damaged several homes in the Maxie Community.

The storms obliterated three manufactured homes and two travel trailers on J. Bailey Road in South Forrest County.  Three people in the Looper family were injured after taking cover right as the storms hit. They were taken to Forrest General Hospital where they were treated and released.

Homes were also either destroyed or damaged along Pat Armstrong Road. More than 12,00 residences lost power power in south Forrest County and crews with Pearl River Valley were still working to restore power Wednesday morning.

Work crews from Forrest County are out in force cleaning up debris and removing downed trees.

Forrest County Emergency Management was also in Maxie Wednesday to begin their damage assessment.
