STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -
New pictures sent to WLOX News show the chaos and the devastation in the aftermath of the Christmas Day tornado spree that tore through South Mississippi.
The pictures are from Lance and Paula Spiers. They show what's left of a home on Will Lee Road in Stone County. And as you'll see, there's not much there.
Gov. Phil Bryant declared a state of emergency in several Mississippi counties, including Stone and Pearl River.
"Deborah and I extend our thoughts and prayers to all of those who were affected by the storms today," Gov. Bryant said in a news release. "As local and state officials work together to assess the damages, this State of Emergency will help expedite the support needed."
Nine Mississippi counties had varying reports of storm damage on Christmas Day. There were sporadic power outages around the region. However, as of this morning, both Mississippi Power and Singing River Electric have restored power to their customers.
