HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Cold weather is headed back into South Mississippi this week, and that means preparations are underway to make sure shelters are ready.

The WLOX 24/7 Weather Team says South Mississippi will be warm and wet on Christmas Day. Rain and possibly severe storms will move through in the morning. The cold air will follow the front on Wednesday.

Cold weather shelters will open in Harrison County Wednesday and Thursday nights at the D'Iberville Civic Center on Automall Parkway and the Salvation Army Building on 22nd Street in Gulfport. The shelters will open at 4:30pm and stay open until 8am the next morning.

Coast Transit Authority will provide transportation on the fixed routes to the shelters.
