BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police now have a second suspect in custody following a cold case investigation of a murder back in 1984.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Leila Mulla returned to Baton Rouge from New York late Thursday night.

She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a first-degree murder charge.

Earlier this month, police arrested Ronald Dunnigan, Mulla's suspected accomplice.

The two are accused of killing Gary Kergan in November of 1984.

Kergan was last seen leaving a Plank Road night club with Mulla.

Both suspects were arrested shortly after the murder, but prosecutors were forced to drop the case because of a lack of evidence.

The victim's brother said the arrests are the first step in getting closure.
