The State Office of Public Health announced changes Thursday
in the way their inspectors review restaurants around the state.
Assistant Secretary T.J. Lane says a recent legislative audit report prompted the
"Everyone will be working with the same system. We'll have everyone's
schedule and be linked statewide," says Lane. "We can see who is measuring up
and who is not."
Basically, inspectors will streamline their duties and
reporting process which will give them more time to inspect restaurants.
"I think it's great," says T.J. Ribs Manager and co-owner
Kevin Kimball. "I think that food safety is a big concern in town and in our
industry. We need regulations as people out there that don't really comply.
Don't make the effort and its serious business."
Lane says the new process will be implemented in January and
they hope to be statewide by June.
