1 arrested after hit & run accident injures Ocean Springs woman

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

An accident in downtown Ocean Springs early Sunday morning sent one woman to the hospital and landed another in jail.

Around 1:30am, officers were called to help a woman who was struck by a white Ford Explorer on Government Street in front of Mezo's Juke Joint. Lauren MacNaughton was taken to Ocean Springs Hospital with facial trauma, road rash, cuts and bruises throughout her body. Witnesses said after the woman was hit, the Ford Explorer drove off.

A short time later, Lisa Belen Sanchez of Biloxi was stopped on Hwy 90 at Bristol Blvd. Sanchez was taken to Ocean Springs Hospital where she consented to a blood test. She is now charged with DUI, and leaving the scene of an accident causing injury.
