Musical bears bring holiday cheer to uptown Charlotte

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

One of Charlotte's favorite traditions is returning to Founders Hall this holiday season.

Leonard's Bearstein Symphony Orchestra is ready to entertain crowds for the 13th year.

This orchestra of computerized bears, complete with singers, plays all the favorite holiday classics.

The production has become an institution, loved by everyone of any age.

And this year, the bears are more ready than ever for the holiday show.

"It's fabulous," said Programmer and designer Todd Alexander.

"The programming got better and the music got better."

During the bears' hibernation period, finishing touches were added to appeal to a wider audience.

"It's great for mom and dad as well as the kids," said Alexander.

"The banter between the character Leonard and the singers is written for adults and the songs are written for the kids."

With the upgrades and new music added three years ago this group of 18 animatronics bears are ready for seven performances a day seven days a week.

The Leonard Bearstein Symphony Orchestra show is free to everyone.

It runs Monday through Sunday until December 29th.
