GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A family of five were out of town when their four bedroom home burned to the ground early Sunday morning, according to Harrison County Fire Coordinator Pat Sullivan.

Sullivan said the fire happened at Wortham Road in Saucier. A neighbor called the family and 911 about the fire shortly before 1 a.m.

"All they have is what they had taken when they went out of town. Everything else was destroyed," Sullivan explained.

Sullivan said the fire was so extensive when firefighters arrived it had already gone through the roof.

"We were there for about five hours," Sullivan said.

No one was injured. No word yet on what caused the fire.

The Harrison County Fire Services, Harrison County Sheriffs Department and the Mississippi Fire Marshals Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
