BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

A couple wanted in connection with a Louisiana murder got an early wake up call from police at the IP Casino Resort Friday morning.

Dwight Travis Ambo, 22, of Pearl River, Louisiana, and Precious Jolisa Thompson, 23, of Slidell checked into the Biloxi hotel Thursday night. Both are suspects in the Sunday shooting death of a Slidell man.

The Biloxi Police Department received a call early Friday morning from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Department saying they believed Ambo and a woman believed to be an accomplice were staying at the IP Casino hotel.

"First, we got guys out to see the surveillance video to make sure the guys did arrive and were actually in the hotel room and had not left," Sgt. Tim McKaig with Biloxi Police Department said. "That was the case, so we called out our SWAT team and got them organized."

Then police began calling and waking up other guests staying on the fourth floor and instructed them to quietly leave their rooms.

"I saw fear in their eyes but truthfully I didn't have a lot of time to talk to them," McKaig said.

When the guests and employees were gone, the SWAT team moved in and arrested the two suspects without incident.

"They didn't put up a fight, we made a lot of noise and crashed their door a little bit and that kind of scared them, which was the goal. We would much rather scare somebody and intimidate them than hurt them," McKaig said.

Ambo is charged with second degree murder. Investigators believe he is responsible for the early Sunday morning shooting outside a nightclub in Slidell that killed Sherman Deas. Thompson is charged with accessory after the fact of second degree murder.

Both are being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
