WLOX Editorial: Congratulations Keesler Air Force Base

Posted: Updated:

Congratulations to Keesler Air Force Base which is one of two finalists in the running to be named the best base in the Air Force. Keesler is competing with McConnel Air Force Base near Wichita Kansas for the top prize.

The actual award is called the Commander-in-Chief Installation Excellence Award. It recognizes the base that demonstrates enhanced productivity, dedication to continual improvement, and other innovative accomplishments that create and sustain base operations to support the mission of the United States Air Force.

In the past few years Keesler became home of the Cyber Training Facility which trains men and women on how to combat cyber attacks against our country. Keesler has long been one of the major electronic and computer teaching bases in the country.

The base is known for being the home of the Hurricane Hunters who provide the Hurricane Center needed information to better forecast the path and speed of storms. Also Keesler now has one of the most modern military hospitals in the country.

We join Brigadier General Bradley Spacy, the 81st Training Wing commander in saying that congratulations are in order for the entire base. All of us in South Mississippi know that Keesler is the best and hopefully soon the rest of the country will know as well.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com, or post your comments below.
