RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jackson metro area will be the setting for a faith based film set in 2040. Casting is underway for the post apocalyptic tale at the Cabot Lodge in Ridgeland.

"Jackson just seemed to be the place because you guys have an amazing tax incentive and the fact that it's also a cash incentive, and it turned out that you have more than ample locations in what we were looking for," said Film Producer Patrick Werksma.

The open casting call for the faith based film Rumors of Wars attracted acting hopefuls auditioning roles in the Bear Fruits Film. They signed up for a chance to get a speaking part or even play an extra.

"I'm interested in acting. I just enjoy doing things outside of work. You know just kind of really releases if you will, but I don't know where it will lead me," said Freelance Court Reporter Candice Simmons of Brandon.

Casting Director Nise Davies wants soldiers for the new world army and men, women and children to portray peasant family resistors.

"I have a little short part in The Help that was filmed here back in 2010 and also we just finished a production in November called The Murderer by JD Productions," said Jackson resident Mario Tolliver.

Jacob Mason of Raymond auditioned earlier in the day Wednesday and was given a script for a return read.

"I saw the opportunity to come by and do it, and I thought that's a great thing to do. I definitely support all the new Christian movies that are coming out. I really love watching and enjoying them, and I think it would be great to be in one," said Mason.

Production and Costume Designer Dusty Wilson of New Orleans has family in Franklin county and urged filmmakers to shoot in Jackson and the surrounding areas.

"This film is going to mean so much to me and not just to me but my entire family and the film community here, because it has so much to offer. We were able to go into these small communities like Flora, even Canton, Pearl, Brandon and I don't want to say overtake them but really be able to capture the essence of that town," said Wilson.

Filming in the Jackson metro area begins Dec. 27 and continues through Jan. 6.
