BrunswickSteel has implemented STRATIX/SigmaNEST, a real-time bi-directional integration between the STRATIX metal enterprise software and the CAD/CAM plate nesting software SigmaNEST.
Winnipeg, Canada (PRWEB) December 12, 2012
Brunswick Steel, located in Winnipeg, Canada, has implemented the STRATIX/SigmaNEST product, a real-time bi-directional packaged integration between STRATIX metal software and the CAD/CAM plate nesting system SigmaNEST.
The STRATIX/SigmaNEST product is related to the metal service center software STRATIX. It represents a joint effort between Invera, the metal industry software specialist, and SigmaTEK Systems, the leading nesting software developer. BrunswickSteel has been live and operational on the STRATIX metal industry ERP since 2007 using Invera's ON-DEMAND cloud computing service
STRATIX/SigmaNEST is a transaction management product that enables STRATIX inventory and orders to be dynamically downloaded to SigmaNEST, and the final optimized nest created in SigmaNEST to be uploaded back into STRATIX without any manual intervention. SigmaNEST is the leading CAD/CAM nesting system for profile cutting & punching machines.
STRATIX is specialized metal ERP software that handles all types of ferrous and non-ferrous products of all forms, including coils, sheets, structural products, wire, pipe and tubing, rebar, mesh, bars, roll formed products, panels/profiles, and building products.
A seamless integration of native metal industry terminology, functions, and features make STRATIX quick to deploy with minimum implementation costs. The STRATIX software includes sales, purchasing, receiving, inventory management, multi-step production, production scheduling, delivery and logistics planning, invoicing, and financials.
For metal service centers and plate processors that perform plate cutting, plate burning, water-jet cutting, and laser cutting, STRATIX/SigmaNEST significantly improves overall company productivity and provides better nesting options. By eliminating duplicate entry and having information dynamically available in both systems, improvements in productivity include the following:
1. Real-time availability of inventory and remnant stock information to sales
2. Reduction in material costs through better selection and optimization of stock
3. Improved planning staff productivity by eliminating duplicate entry
4. Improved order profitability through better yields
5. Improved customer service
Justin Copp, Sales Manager at BrunswickSteel, commented, “The implementation of STRATIX-SigmaNEST has really been great for our business and has complemented the technological advances we have made in our operations department. Our operators view the work they need to perform on-line on the lineup, performing all the recording of the job real-time, with time entries and label printing. All orders to ship are also viewed on-line in the Transport Planning inquiry where we build our loads. The addition of STRATIX-SigmaNEST has provided a highly automated environment for our company that ultimately benefits our customers."
Remnant SigmaNEST diagrams can be viewed directly from STRATIX for availability to all users within an organization. This includes planned remnants before the job is actually started as well as the final remnant.
Production planners use SigmaNEST to optimize material utilization and processing speed for improved cutting efficiency. When the nesting process is complete, the nest information is transmitted to STRATIX so that STRATIX jobs can be automatically created. STRATIX jobs can then be scheduled and recorded in STRATIX.
Christine Dockter, the Project Manager and Administrative Manager at BrunswickSteel, commented, “Since our implementation of this packaged integration, it has significantly reduced the number of drops in our warehouse by over 50%, and improved our nesting utilization as well. In addition it has eliminated the double-entry that was required when the two systems were not fully integrated, saving our planner several hours a day."
