Public Safety Complex Proposal

Officials are mapping out the future of public safety in Ocean Springs. Mayor Seren Ainsworth says the city's police and fire stations are overcrowded and outdated.

Mayor Ainsworth is hoping voters will approve a proposal for a $4.3 million public safety center.

The complex would be built on Highway 90 east of the Ocean Spring's Civic Center. The central location would allow for better response times.

The complex would be the headquarters for the police and fire departments. It would also house the city jail, courthouse, and emergency management agency.

The Federal Homeland Security Department has already agreed to put up one million dollars for the new center. Alderman must vote on the proposal before it goes to a public vote.
