If you take look up at the State Championship banners perched atop Bert Jenkins Gymnasium you'll see that the last state championship banner was won back in 2002.
Second-year coach Owen Miller says his Admirals are determined to win-it-all this season.
Miller said, " That's our goal and quite honestly if we don't do it, it will be a disappointment. Our guys understand that. They remember the feeling after we lost to Jim Hill in the State Semifinal and they carry that with them everyday."
Four starters are back and the Admirals are taking advantage of that experience.
Seniors Eddie Lee, Otis Harvey, Tim Barron and sophomore guard Jashire Hardnett are getting the job done both offensively and defensively.
"Those four guys have really been through it and some our bench was with us as well," Miller stated. "We've got depth, experience and we've got guys who have been to the fire before."
Admirals players have nothing but respect for head coach Miller.
Tim Barron said, "The way we play is different. He gets everybody involved, not just one person and the way we play, we've got a real good connection."
Otis Harvey added, "Coach Miller had made a Huge impact. We practice hard everyday. No days off. He really motivates us. He's a great coach."
Miller says sophomore guard Jashire Hardnett who started every game for the Admirals last season, has loads of talents.
"Well he's strong and he's physical and he can handle the ball with either hand. He's a good shooter. He's very hard to contain off the dribble. And he's got a swagger about him. He thinks he's a good player and a lot of times that will take you a long way."
Coach Miller hopes Hardnett and his Admirals teammates will make their way back to Jackson.
