BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police say a Texas man was killed in serious crash that backed up traffic on I-10 between Highland Road and LA 73 on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. at milepost 169. State Police say Michael Munson, 35, was traveling in the westbound lane, driving a truck that was towing a utility trailer when the trailer broke loose. The trailer crossed over the median and struck a pickup that was traveling in the eastbound lane. The driver of that truck, David Hammer, 64, was killed in the collision.

Troopers do no suspect impairment on the part of either driver, but toxicology samples have been submitted for both. The crash is still under investigation.
