    Some Jackson County supervisors don't want to see people carrying guns in parks and other public areas despite a new gun law in the state. As WLOX has reported, starting July 1st Mississippians will be able to openly carry a gun and other weapons with or without a permit.   Some Jackson county leaders want to create a local ordinance to keep weapons in check.
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are on the lookout for three men accused of hijacking a car Wednesday night.

Edward Paul, 58, had just taken his wife to church Wednesday evening when he says he decided to help three men who asked for a ride off 12th Avenue in Columbus.

However, he said things changed after they got into his car.

"Then, the little guy who was sitting there in the passenger seat, hit me in the head and the little guy pushed my car in park and jerked my keys out, and all three of them came around on my side pulled me out of my car and slammed me,' said Paul.

He is okay, just bruised, but he says they took his 2008 white, 4-door, Mercury Milan.

"I didn't know they were going to try to hurt me or what, but anytime I see somebody broke down on the side of the road or got a car problem, I stop and ask them because I like to help people," said Paul.

Paul's wife is fighting cancer right now and until they can get a rental car, he is worried about getting to doctor appointments.

"I don't know what I am going to do. The Lord will find a way somehow," said Paul.

However, he says he does know he will never give anyone a ride again, and he encourages others to do the same.

"It is not safe to pick them up. Just keep on going. Keep your doors locked on your car so no one can come up on you."
