BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

An East Baton Rouge grand jury has indicted a man accused of using a stun gun and handcuffs to rape a Baton Rouge college student three years ago.

James Crockett Jr., 41, of Chalmette is charged with aggravated rape.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Crockett knocked on the door at an apartment complex near LSU on July 5, 2009.

According to the warrant, a 22-year-old woman opened the door and let him in because she assumed he was a friend since he asked for her roommate by name.

"Once inside, he used a stun gun and a pair of handcuffs to subdue the victim," said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs with BRPD. "That's when the rape occurred."

Police in Alabama picked up Crockett two days later because they said he was acting suspicious. They reported finding a taser and handcuffs on him. The victim later identified him as the rapist.

However, he was suspected of also raping a college student in Hattiesburg, MS and was locked up there before being sent back to Louisiana.

He was returned to Baton Rouge in August 2012.

Crockett pleaded guilty in 2010 to the rape in Mississippi.

He was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
