JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A two car crash on Highway 614 in Jackson County killed a four-year-old boy. The accident happened around 9:45 Wednesday night about a half mile west of the Highway 613 intersection.

The Dodge Dakota pickup truck, driven by 24-year-old Darren Gaspard of Starks, Louisiana was traveling east on Highway 614 when a westbound Toyota Camry crossed the center line and collided head on with the truck.

The mother, who was riding in the bed of the truck, was thrown from the vehicle. A 4-year-old and 8-month-old were inside the vehicle.

Four-year-old Darren Gaspard, Jr. was taken to USA Medical Center in Mobile and died Thursday morning of his injuries.

Eight-month-old William Gaspard was transported to Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula with life threatening injuries.

Father Darren and the 25-year-old mother, Jessica, were also taken to Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, both with serious injuries.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is leading this investigation. So far, the other driver has not been charged.
