Car found in Waveland connected to New Orleans murder
WAVELAND, MS (WLOX) -
A car found abandoned in Waveland is wanted out of New Orleans in connection to a homicide according to Waveland Police Detective Eddie Peterson.
Waveland police received a call about a suspicious vehicle on Camellia Street Tuesday evening. Officers checked the tag number and found New Orleans police were searching for that car in connection with a homicide Peterson said. Waveland Police called NOPD and a detective came to Waveland and had the car towed to New Orleans.
A Sea Coast Echo reporter on the scene Tuesday night said the car was a dark blue Honda Accord with a license plate number that matched a vehicle sought by New Orleans police.
Media reports in New Orleans say a 2007 Honda Accord with the same license plate number belongs to 27-year-old Fernando Eyzaguirre who was found shot to death Sunday. According to a NOPD news release the victim was found shortly before 6:30 Sunday morning in the 5100 block of General DeGaulle Drive in Algiers.
Waveland police could not confirm any information about the shooting and referred questions to New Orleans police.
WLOX News will have more information as it becomes available.
