Pascagoula running back Kevin Scott remembering his dad in title run

Kevin Scott, 5 foot 8, 162 pound senior, banged out 664 yards rushing with 5 touchdowns this season. He netted almost 7 yards per carry, taking pressure off Pascagoula quarterback Stacey Warren who led the Panthers in rushing with 809 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Scott plays with a heavy heart. His dad, Kevin Scott, Senior died in 2008.

Scott said, "I think about my dad, my dad motivated me. He died a couple of years ago so I just go out there and do everything for him."@

Scott says his dad was the one who got him interested in competing in football at a young age.

"He was at all my pee wee games," Scott stated. He added,"He was the one who got me started on football. Without him I would have never got started playing football, so that's why I love this sport."

Scott's dad played baseball at Moss Point High School and he said his dad wanted him to pick a sport and he chose football. He said, "It's my passion, my love."

Pascagoula head coach Lewis Sims has nothing but kind words when talking about Kevin Scott. "He's a team player. He never complains. He works hard and he does what you ask him to do with a smile on his face. He shows up and everyday he hits every drill the same way. He carries the load whether its catching the football out of the backfield or running in the trenches or blocking for Stacey Warren which he has done a lot of lately."

Besides the fans looking down on the field Saturday night in Jackson, someone else will be looking down from high above pulling his son, Kevin Scott to help bring the 5A State title to Pascagoula.
