According to Biloxi police, a gun went off inside the downtown Biloxi Waffle House early Friday morning. The bullet shattered one of the restaurant's windows. Moments later, the gun's owner was taken to jail. Police say Sam Edward Yu is charged with attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The 21-year-old is from Montgomery, Alabama.More >>

A St. John the Baptist Parish sheriff's deputy hospitalized since an August shoot-out that killed two other deputies is back home in Montz.
Chief Deputy Harold Klibert says Jason Triche returned home on Monday from a Baton Rouge hospital. Klibert says people lined streets to welcome him. The Sheriff's Office had asked residents to turn out in a posting on its Facebook page.
Triche was among three deputies ambushed August 16 at a trailer park where they went to investigate a shooting that had injured another deputy. Both deputies with Triche were killed. Deputy Michael Scott Boyington, wounded earlier Aug. 16 while working an off-duty security job, was released from a hospital earlier.
Seven people were arrested. One is out on bond. Six remain in jail.
