BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Louisiana State Police said Thanksgiving proved to be a deadly holiday on roadways across the state.

Troopers reported 14 people died in 13 crashes during the week.

One of the deadly wrecks was in the Baton Rouge area.

Reginald Head, 29, of Maringouin died in a single-car accident on I-10 West near mile marker 146, which is in West Baton Rouge Parish near the Iberville Parish line, early Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the car veered off the road and eventually ended up in some trees.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.

LSP said although Head was wearing his seatbelt, he was partially ejected.

The Lafayette area saw the most deadly wrecks of anywhere else in the state.

Six people died in six separate crashes. One of the victims was a pedestrian, while another was a motorcyclist.

Two people were killed in a wreck in the Lake Charles area.

Another person was killed in an accident in the Alexandria area.

Two people died in two crashes in the Monroe area.

Two other people died in two wrecks in the Mandeville area.

Authorities said seven of the people killed over the holiday were not properly buckled and two of the crashes involved impaired drivers.
