Jackson County wildfires mostly contained

Mississippi Forestry Commission said three wildfires spread through Jackson County this weekend.

All of them are clear; however, will not be deemed 100% contained until rain hits the burned areas.

The Moss Point wildfire burned 196 acres. It is 90% contained.

The wildfire in Northeast Jackson County burned 39 acres. It 95% contained.

A 10 acre fire in Vancleave is 95% contained.

Smoke is still an issue throughout Jackson County and drivers are being warned to use extreme caution.

Smoke signs have been posted on I-10 near exit 69.

Mississippi Forestry Commission and the Sandhill Crane Wildlife Refuge are working to keep the area safe.
